Course Overview

Accountants working in professional practice face a seemingly endless stream of regulatory changes which affect practice management. Non-compliance can result in a bad outcome at the time of an inspection visit from a professional body.

This course will explain all the recent changes and also highlight common issues on professional body regulatory visits, helping you to ensure that your practice is well prepared in the event of such a visit.

Content will include:

  • The impact of the 5th Anti-Money Laundering Regulations (effective 2020)
  • AML procedures reviewed during Practice/Quality Assurance visits and why they matter
  • GDPR one year on – what your professional body will be expecting you to do to comply
  • Top tips for managing risk in your practice
  • Recent regulator feedback on Practice and Quality Assurance compliance – what the disciplinary cases tell us

About Peter Herbert

After qualifying in 1993, Peter spent a number of years in industry and now spends much of his time delivering training courses on aspects of financial reporting, auditing, company law and practice regulation, principally to accountants working in professional practice and in industry. When not training, Peter spends much of his time carrying out audit file reviews and practice assurance reviews for firms of accountants and advising them on issues of financial reporting and audit methodology. This allows him to bring a practical insight to the courses and lectures that he delivers.
