Course Overview
All staff have a vital role to play in ensuring that your firm fulfils its legal and regulatory obligations in respect of anti-money laundering, GDRP and the ICAEW / ACCA Code of Ethics. When completing the firm’s annual compliance review and declarations, the compliance partner is often reliant on the information provided by staff. If individuals are not aware of the basic requirements firms may unwittingly breach their obligations. This one-day, case study driven course is aimed at new trainees and uses the tutor’s first-hand experience of how accountancy firms comply (and fail to comply) with their obligations to cover the following areas:
- Reporting suspicions of money laundering – real life examples of what should and should not be reported;
- How GDPR affects the firm in practice – understanding the lawful bases for obtaining and holding data, the impact of GDPR on working papers and the action to take if a data breach occurs;
- Bribery Act and Criminal Finances Act – the practical impact of this legislation and why following internal procedures is key;
- New client take-on procedures – the steps which must be followed, including ethical considerations, professional clearance and client due diligence;
- A basic understanding of DPB and impact on firms; and
- The ICAEW / ACCA Code of Ethics and how this interacts with the above requirements.
Who Should Attend?
Open to all accountancy staff.
