Charity accountants, auditors and examiners face a major challenge keeping abreast of the fast-changing rules and regulations that affect this sector, in particular those working within and acting for smaller charities.
This half day seminar will reflect on the challenges created by the charity SORP, including changes introduced as a result of the triennial review of FRS 102, highlight a range of topical regulatory issues relevant to accountants who work with charities and point charity auditors and independent examiners towards the steps that they need to take to ensure that their audit work and files meet the required standard.
Content will include:
- Key practical accounting issues presented by charities SORP FRS 102 and how these are addressed in practice;
- Changes to charity accounts brought about by the triennial review of FRS 102 and Update Bulletin 2;
- Common fieldwork and documentation deficiencies when producing charity audit files and how to put these right;
- Recent changes toCharities Commission rules on independent examination and how to comply with these;
- Tricky areas of accounting for charities and how to address them (e.g. accounting for grants; accounting for restricted funds); and
- Other regulatory issues resulting from recent legislation and Charities Commission guidance and their implications for charity advisors.
