Course Overview

The much anticipated new SRA Accounts Rules 2019 are effective from 25 November 2019 and impact all client money assignments for solicitors from that date. The new Rules represent a significant simplification compared to the previous Rules, creating both risks and opportunities for Reporting Accountants. The course will cover the following areas:

  • Why the SRA have made such radical changes to their Accounts Rules and how this affects Reporting Accountants;
  • An in-depth review of the new Rules,  focussing on key changes and problematic areas;
  • How to apply these Rules in practice – what changes you should be making to ensure your work meets the SRA’s objectives effectively;
  • Maintaining competitiveness – areas of work historically undertaken which are no longer necessary and how to provide the best service to the client;
  • Common problems firms have when completing client money assignments and how to avoid them.
