You deserve a simpler way to expand or upskill your team
When you or your whole accountancy team get too busy, you need to increase capacity in a cost effective way. But hiring an apprentice can seem like hard work. All that paperwork to get your head around and a confusing funding process to navigate - not to mention finding time from somewhere to support an apprentice. Can you afford that drain on your time? Luckily, you don’t need to.
White Horse Training was established more than 40 years ago – by accountants, for accountants. As our own clients’ staffing needs grew, we introduced apprenticeship training specifically to meet the needs of accountancy practices and in-house finance teams.
A track record you can rely on
We’ve been doing this since 1995 and provide a package of practical training courses that complement our apprenticeship programme to ensure your new hire hits the ground running. We achieve outstanding success rates in both AAT and apprenticeships.
We are a government-approved training provider for the delivery of Apprenticeship Standards in Accounting at Level 3 and Level 4 and an approved training centre for the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT). We are also a partner in learning with ICAEW.
White Horse Training - taking the stress out of managing your apprenticeships
At White Horse Training we take care of every aspect of accountancy apprenticeships, delivering for levy-paying and non-levy paying employers in both industry and practice. We will guide you through the funding process and minimise disruption for you by providing comprehensive support for your learner throughout every stage of their AAT Apprenticeship programme.
Accounting apprenticeships for your team
The AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting helps you to master complex financial processes, preparing you for a career in finance. The Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship adds training in the business skills and behaviours necessary to help you succeed in a junior role in accountancy and provides the foundation for further progress.
The AAT Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting gives you the knowledge you need to work at a more senior level in accounting whilst the Professional Accounting Technician Apprenticeship develops your personal and business skills, helping you to succeed both in more senior accounting roles and providing a sound platform to go on to further professional studies.
100% of our employers say our AAT apprenticeship programme meets their business needs.

What employers had to say about our apprenticeships
I have been working with White Horse Training Ltd for 3 years and have been very impressed with the delivery of their apprenticeship courses and their CPD courses. White Horse keep my team up to date and I am very confident that our knowledge is in good hands. Employing an apprentice has been a great benefit to our firm and the support received by White Horse Training was excellent throughout.
Annette Pettitt - Leigh Park Accountancy
I have always found White Horse to be very able training providers; both knowledgeable and responsive. They have successfully trained a number of our apprentices in the last 10 years and are therefore a firm that I can send my students to with confidence. I have also used White Horse’s experienced team as a valuable sounding board in terms of determining what is the best route for our accountancy trainees of all levels.
Dan Slocombe - Moore SW
GCSD has used White Horse for AAT apprenticeships since we setup. The service is fantastic and we’ve encountered a perfect success rate. I completed my AAT apprenticeship with White Horse and am now a director. The care, attention and quality of training is 1st class. The paperwork and process, from an employer’s perspective, can be a minefield but White Horse take away that pain, ensuring we are aware of issues and successes, giving peace of mind students are guided and developed in the best way.

Information for Employers
An apprenticeship can help you to expand or upskill your workforce and with Government financial support, for many businesses, recruiting and training an apprentice is more cost-effective than hiring skilled staff on a higher salary. Apprentices are motivated to learn new skills and can be a great way to boost business productivity. By working closely with employers, we ensure their training is tailored to your personal business aims and needs.
The ‘Find an Apprenticeship’ website is available for employers to advertise their apprenticeship vacancies and we can help you to access and manage this free service.
Individuals often send us their CVs if they are looking for an accounting role so that we can share them with employers who are looking to recruit. For further information please get in contact with us.
If your business has an annual payroll of over £3 million, then you will be an apprentice levy-payer.
The levy is 0.5% of your payroll which is collected by HMRC at the point you pay PAYE. This levy is reserved for apprenticeship training and businesses have two years to spend it.
As a levy-payer, you will be able to use the online Apprenticeship Service to create an account which will help you to choose and pay for your apprenticeship training. More information about the Levy can be found at www.gov.uk. White Horse Training deliver apprenticeships to levy-paying employers so call our team for further information about selecting White Horse as your Training Provider.
If you are a business with an annual payroll of under £3 million then you will not be paying into a 'levy-pot' and therefore are a non-levy payer. As a non-levy employer, you will share the costs of training an apprentice with the government - this is called ‘co-investment’, depending on circumstances the costs could even be fully funded. White Horse Training support non-levy paying employers with accessing this government funding so call our team for further information.
