Rebecca is a lecturer, writer, and consultant on a wide variety of taxes. She lectures extensively to accountants and business people and also to HMRC and the Treasury. Rebecca is well known for her down-to-earth approach to tax and her ability to make the subject matter both clear and interesting, and she was named Best Tax Lecturer at the Taxation awards in 2007. She also has an interest in all issues affecting smaller practices and has her own small accountancy practice based in Gloucestershire. Rebecca has also been Chair of the ICAEW Tax Faculty.

Martyn qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1982 and has specialised in taxation ever since. He became an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation in 1983 whilst working for a large international firm. His career has combined lecturing with tax consultancy, working for The Financial Training Company Ltd, Horwath Clark Whitehill, and more recently, MHA MacIntrye Hudson

Martyn's main area of interest is tax planning for the family business, in particular tax efficient remuneration, exit planning and restructuring. He lecturers on this and other taxation issues as well as running his own tax practice.

Mark Ward qualified with a large firm in 1989, having previously worked in the tax departments of a small and a medium size firm. He has been lecturing on a wide variety of tax matters for 30 years to qualified practitioners and industry specialists in the UK and overseas. His ability to quickly establish a rapport with his audience, and discuss complex matters in a practical, and understandable style means Mark is much in demand on the lecturing circuit.

Mark has the unenviable task of preparing the slideshow for the monthly Professional Tax Update and likes to add the odd mischievous graphic to lighten the content.

Ever in search of an antidote to tax, Mark and his wife are usually found walking their dog through sun, wind and rain.

Giles is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser and has been involved in UK tax training for 20 years. Giles started his career with a small firm of accountants and tax advisers, before working as a director of a large professional training company. Giles joined PTP in January 2004 and was made a partner of The Professional Training Partnership in January 2007, he is also a Director of PTP Ltd. He has written for a number of publications on various UK tax and business issues including writing PTP’s own monthly publication – Professional Tax Update. Giles entertains and educates professionals several days each week running tax seminars throughout the country. Giles is also well known as the host of TAXtv and AccountingTV.

After qualifying in 1993 Peter spent a number of years in industry and now spends much of his time delivering training courses on aspects of financial reporting, auditing, company law and practice regulation, principally to accountants working in professional practice and in industry.

When not training, Peter spends much of his time carrying out audit file reviews and practice assurance reviews for firms of accountants and advising them on issues of financial reporting and audit methodology. This allows him to bring a practical insight to the courses and lectures that he delivers.

John is a Chartered Accountant and independent training consultant who lectures for major accountancy practices, training companies and publishers. He is a highly articulate speaker who lectures specifically on money laundering, auditing and financial reporting, and he also writes technical material for publishers. Previously, he has been the technical partner for a top thirty firm of accountants and Head of CharterGroup the accountancy network. John is a member of the ICAEW Audit and Assurance Faculty’s Practitioner Services Committee and has been involved with presenting and writing the material for the Audit & Assurance Faculty’s highly successful Roadshows for a number of years.

Neil Owen is an independent consultant, speaker and occasional writer. He has specialised exclusively in VAT since 1984, when he joined HM Customs & Excise as a VAT officer. He entered professional practice in 1990, working for regional accountancy firms in the Thames Valley and Solent areas, before establishing his own VAT consultancy practice in 2007. Neil is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, an Associate of the Institute of Indirect Tax, and a Fellow of the British Institute of Agricultural Consultants.  He was previously National Secretary of the VAT Practitioners Group and general editor of the annual book, CCH VAT Planning.  He is also a former editor of the CIOT journal, Tax Adviser.

Ros Martin is a consultant and lecturer covering all aspects of direct tax and Stamp Duty Land Tax. She was an Inland Revenue fully trained Inspector until 2000 having worked in the Large Business Office as well as in the local district network. She left to become a consultant advising on tax planning for businesses and individuals as well as dealing with full and aspect enquiry work. She has since branched out to include lecturing in her business. The consultancy work gives Ros a particular opportunity to understand the key issues of concerns for such professionals and consider the practical aspects of the application of legislation.
