White Horse is a government approved training provider for the delivery of Apprenticeship Standards in Accounting at Level 3 and Level 4. We can deliver for levy-paying and non-levy paying employers in both industry and practice and we are an approved centre for the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and ICAEW.

AAT Level 3

The AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting helps you to master complex financial processes, preparing you for a career in finance.  The Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship adds training in the business skills and behaviours necessary to help you succeed in a junior role in accountancy and provides the foundation for further progress.

AAT Level 4

The AAT Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting gives you the knowledge you need to work at a more senior level in accounting whilst the Professional Accounting Technician Apprenticeship develops your personal and business skills, helping you to succeed both in more senior accounting roles and providing a sound platform to go on to further professional studies.

Information for Employers

We can help you to recruit an apprentice through the Find An Apprenticeship website and there is no charge for this service. For further information please contact us.

If you’re an employer with a pay bill over £3 million each year, you will be paying the apprenticeship levy from 6 April 2017. You will also be able to use the online apprenticeship service to create an account which will help you to choose and pay for your apprenticeship training. More information about the Levy can be found at www.gov.uk.

White Horse Training is able to deliver apprenticeships to Levy paying employers so please contact us for further information about selecting White Horse Training as your Training Provider.

If you are an employer who does not pay the apprenticeship levy you will either share the cost of training and assessing your apprentices with the government – this is called ‘co-investment’, or it could be fully funded depending on the circumstances. White Horse is able to support non-levy paying employers with accessing this government funding so please contact us for further information.

Our programmes are delivered at our offices in Bath and are based on five days a month block release.

Information for Apprentices

Apprenticeships are formal, nationally recognised training programmes. As an apprentice you will have the opportunity to achieve a qualification while developing knowledge, skills and experience in the workplace.

As an apprentice you will be employed – earning a wage, whilst benefiting from an invaluable mix of theoretical learning and practical training. An apprenticeship provides an excellent foundation for your career and may be a perfect starting place for progression to further professional qualifications and the route to becoming a Chartered Accountant.

Under the Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship, apprentices will achieve the knowledge element of the apprenticeship standard by studying the content of the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting Level 3. Although not a requirement of the apprenticeship, apprentices and employers are encouraged to work towards achievement of this qualification in addition to the full apprenticeship standard. This element is taught on a block release study programme of three days a month here at our offices in Bath.

As well as building technical knowledge, the apprenticeship helps apprentices to develop the skills and behaviours essential for their role in the workplace and the sector in which they work. We will support apprentices and the employer to meet all the requirements of the apprenticeship standard.
Those starting under this apprenticeship would normally have acquired knowledge equivalent to that gained under the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting Level 2, have A Levels or equivalent, or have appropriate accounting experience.

Apprentices on the Professional Accounting Technician Apprenticeship will achieve their knowledge element of the apprenticeship standard by studying the content of the AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting Level 4. Although not a requirement of the apprenticeship, apprentices and employers are encouraged to work towards achievement of this qualification in addition to the full apprenticeship standard. This element is taught on a block release study programme of three days a month here at our offices in Bath.

This apprenticeship builds on existing technical knowledge and helps apprentices to further develop their wider professional skills and behaviours essential to success in an office environment. We will support apprentices and the employer to meet all the requirements of the apprenticeship standard.

Those starting under this apprenticeship would normally have acquired the knowledge as gained through the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting Level 3.

‘A firm I can send my students to with confidence’

We have used White Horse Training at Moore ever since I assumed the role of training partner at the firm. I have always found them to be very able training providers; both knowledgeable and responsive.
They have successfully trained a number of our apprentices in the last 10 years and are therefore a firm that I can send my students to with confidence.
I have also used White Horse’s experienced team as a valuable sounding board in terms of determining what is the best route for our accountancy trainees of all levels.

‘The care, attention and quality of training given is first class’

GCSD has used White Horse Training for AAT apprenticeships since we first set up in business.
My experience is first hand as I completed my AAT apprenticeship with White Horse and I am now a director of the firm I trained with. As a student, and now an employer, I can honestly say the care, attention and quality of training given to the students is 1st class. The apprenticeship paperwork and process, from an employer’s perspective, can be a minefield but White Horse take away that pain. One of the most impressive aspects to working with White Horse is the way they communicate – they ensure we are aware of issues and successes throughout your student’s journey, giving you complete peace of mind they are being guided and developed in the best way possible.

Gavin Hollywell, Director, GCSD Accountants.

‘WHT is pre-eminent in its teaching and student support’

I have used multiple training providers before White Horse Training for a variety of qualifications and I can absolutely say White Horse Training is pre-eminent in its teaching and student support. The Team provide a learning space that encourages freedom of thought and expression while following a clear & direct curriculum. They provide a wide range of resources to cater for all learning styles, allowing all students of any level to understand and process the material. Overall, I think White Horse Training are first-class.
